Graveyard Sale

My mom brought up that she wants to go to Rose Hills this weekend to pick out graveyard plots. Apparently there's some sort of a sale. She also has 2 picked out for me and my sister. Apparently I'll be at my parent's side for all of eternity.

I had a dream about dying last night (probably from the Cemetery talk) and woke up feeling really disgusted with myself. Thinking about your own demise and the subsequent effect it has on everyone you know is a powertrip and narcissistic as hell. Anyways, I dreamt that I died in a car accident, and since it was a drunk driver who hit me, my family would've been taken care of from some sort of a lawsuit. I don't know if it works like that, but it did in Office Space. Also, since this is a dream, my body is not mutilated in any way from the accident. It will be open casket. The Lakers will be there. And Jackie Chan. And an amazing amount of my female friends will be unimaginably devastated as they were all secretly in love with me.

Mondays

Since it's Monday, I'd figure I'll post a post of what I have done and will possibly today. It will probably be more exciting than what I was doing working. Let's hope it is.

Just finished filing for unemployment again. I failed to enter my correct social security number the first try 2 weeks ago, so I had to start all over.

Breakfast. This is the first time I've eaten oatmeal in this particular bowl. This is my favorite bowl in the house. Notice the semicircular fish. I eat oatmeal for breakfast (Market Pantry Instant Oatmeal: Maple and Brown Sugar) if you were wondering what that gross looking stuff is.

Go to 24 Hour Fitness to play basketball with homie Kenny. He's pretty intense. He also got me on that church basketball league that I was playing in on Saturday mornings.

It looks like it will be a really nice day today, so I wanna say I'll go bike riding or running. Most probably running as Tim and Angus are probably gonna go running in Whittier around 5 ish.

I got laid off on Wednesday at 11:42 AM. It felt inevitable since Urban Crossroads wasn't doing so hot in the last few months, so I wasn't shocked. But I did only get to use my new battlestar mug for 2 mornings before the lay off.

grammer

My grasp of the English language is surprisingly bad. That's the main reason why I like to keep my sentences short. (I'm doing a report write-up; hence this entry.) As I am typing this report, I realize I don't consciously apply grammer to what I am writing. Like in that last sentence, I felt like a baby giraffe that's learning how to walk where each ensuing step increases the chance of tripping up.

I blame my failure at language on my career choice; engineers don't need to learn how to write. Ha! Consequently, I say aloud in my head and sometimes mouth the sequence of words I am currently typing. If it sounds ok, then it's totally good. What scares me is that this work ends up on published reports that can be brought in as evidence in a court of law. Yup.

SAD and weekend update

Relatively busy weekend:
1. Andy's brother Minh dj'd in Hollywood on Friday.
2. B4C'd and my boss Carelton turned 50 on Saturday. Also saw high school kids start a successful t shirt company.
3. Shrimp Tacos and Watchmen on Sunday.
4. SAD. My friend Tim said I probably have SAD. There's a name! In short, its Seasonal Affective Disorder.

weekend recap

I had a really good weekend. Watchmen was ok. Except for the fact some 14 year old kid picked out the soundtrack, it could've been pretty good.

I'm sorry UCBC, I played like crap on Saturday.

solar power

At 4:50 PM, Monday (yesterday), I went to talk to my supervisor in his office. He also has a window. And the sun was still up.



You might take the sun for granted, especially if you're still in school, unemployed, or have the luxury of a window wherever you work. Not me. My cubicle has walls on 3 sides each 5 feet tall. Time comes here to die. Even my windows toolbar clock hasn't adjusted yet for daylight savings. (I can't change it by the way, it keeps changing back to its own time until the network administrator changes it.) From October til now, the sun has been setting about an hour before I get off of work, so by the time I get into my car it's pitch black. I hate darkness, sunsets, clouds, and shade. I love summers, July, 95 degree days, and nightlights. My mood is greatly affected by the sun, and the amount of sunlight I get. If you've talked to me in the last 6 months, you know what I'm talking about, I've been a miserable wreck.








Yesterday was the first time since October when there was still sunlight when I get off of work. Hallelujah.

tinted windows

I've been thinking about this for a while, and it might seem like a strange thing to think about, but I really hate limo-dark tinted windows on cars (minivans excluded).

If you're a celebrity or a head of state I can understand that some people wish you harm and your privacy in transit is important, but for everyday people, is it necessary? I have almost 2 reasons to despise them.

1. It's ugly.

2. When everybody has tinted windows at in intersection or on a stretch of freeway, it feels like there's noone around. Congratulations on the window tint, you drive in a black box. What if I need to wave to the driver next to me or suggest to them they're doing a terrible job at driving? They'll never know, cause they essentially have blinders on. Don't you want to see what sunlight looks like? Aren't you deprived of outside sunlight like everyone else? Do you want to feel like you're still in the room you just left, or the room you're driving to?
I want to feel like I'm outside. I don't want to be reminded that I'm inside of a 1.5 ton metal box. I like opening the windows and feeling the wind and smelling the stench of skunk.

weekend wrap up

YES. Summer is finally here! It smelled like flowers and sweat at home, and I got to keep the windows open at night.




Friday: The weather was amazing, Hacienda Heights is beautiful, I can see Catalina from the Heights part of Hacienda.

Dollhouse on Fox is ok. Just ok to pretty good. It's one of those things where you want to like it, but you know you're not being totally objective.


Saturday: The weather was amazing, I love Chinese food, hot weather and warm cars. The church basketball team I play on is 0-7. I play power forward sometimes. We're that short.


Sunday: GUN FEVER.


Tim is good. He's gonna kill us all one day with a revolver.

Totally took out his right arm. Totally.

end of the week

I don't have work tomorrow, so you can all expect me not to post tomorrow. I'll probably be sleeping; or basking in the beautiful sun in a lawn chair. In response to that essay Jose posted a few days ago, I had planned a longer, more enlightening entry than the normal crap that goes on. Anyways, recap!
I missed the BMW exhibit at LACMA last week.

Hopefully this weekend will turn out better. So I've realized I don't talk to a lot of people that I used to in college. Check out your gchat/aim list, its true.
